Inktober 2025 - Day 3 - Crown

Day 3 - Crown

I really like this image. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Representing different real-world materials via the medium of pen & ink is always a challenge but I was happy to get the essense of roughly hammered gold in the crown, contrasting with the smooth, slickness of the skin of the frog.

Weirdly, when I posted this on social media, I saw a lot of artists using the same motif of a frog or toad wearing a crown! I guess it's everyone having that childhood memory of reading about the princess kissing many frogs to find her prince.

Inktober 2025 - Day 2 - Weave

Day 2 - Weave

Day 2 of 2025's Inktober is 'Weave'. I went for a skull inspired by the shrunken heads that shocked and awed me as a kid, seeing them on display in the South Australian Museum in Adelaide. I believe they have been returned to their rightful people now.

Inktober 2025 - Day 1 - Mustache

Day 1 - Mustache

Hey everyone, here is my day 1 entry for Inktober 2025. I realised after finished this drawing that I may have been too inspired by the face of the Pringle man!

Snake Joker and Abominai Molten. Digital painting done in Procreate on iPadPro

I call this digital drawing - Snake Joker and Abominai Molten. Instead of explicitly drawing shapes that are in my minds eye, I am 'discovering' shapes (in this case faces) in random and chaotic texture. This is very similar to seeing creatures in clouds. Uses the same part of the brain. Here's the backstory. Snake Joker lost a bet with the eternal evil one and was trapped somewhere very hot, deep underground. The creature known as Abominai Molten somehow sensed Snake Joker's peril and took pity and seeing that they were themselves forged in the vents of an ancient volcano during it's re-eruption, they knew they were the only being capable of the rescue. The eternal evil one had hastily erected a cage of basalt poles lashed together with tungsten rope to contain the wily Snake Joker but Abominai Molten was skilled enough to weave through the chaotic stone cage to rescue the grateful Snake Joker. Here we see Snake Joker clinging to Abominai's leg, eyes closed against the acrid smoke and heat, waiting for Abominai Molten to make the final swing to freedom.

Here's a short video on my channel showing the creation process

'Murky' day 4 of Inktober 2025

Decided to do a quick digital colour-up of my ink drawing 'Murky'. Krita was the app I used for this

And here is the original pen drawing.

I made a video on my youtube channel showing a summary of the digital colouring process. Check it out if you have time!

Eye Balloon

Hello readers from 2020. This is me from November 2025. I decided to refresh my blog and the first post I saw was a version of this picture but one I made into a round logo. I don't know what possessed me to do so but anyway, here is the original...
